Aldinger

The impressive history of the Aldinger Winery can be traced back to 1492, when “Benz der Aldinger” laid the foundation for what is now the oldest winery in Fellbach. For 500 years, the family remained closely connected to viticulture; the winery has existed in its current form since 1955, when the family-owned cooperage was converted into a dedicated winery. Today, the winery is jointly managed by brothers Matthias and Hansjörg Aldinger. While Matthias works primarily in the cellar, Hansjörg is responsible for external operations./p>

The Aldinger Winery is located just outside Stuttgart in Fellbach. The vineyards—affectionately called “Wengert” by the people of Württemberg—are also mostly located in Fellbach and the surrounding towns. The most significant vineyard sites are the Fellbacher Lämmler and the exclusive Untertürkheimer Gips. At first glance, the Aldinger Winery’s portfolio resembles a general store: a wide variety of grape varieties are vinified in a diverse range of colors and styles. Riesling, Lemberger, and Pinot Noir take center stage, alongside white Burgundy varieties, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and, as always, the Swabian original: Trollinger—though no longer in the very best vineyards, as was customary in Württemberg during the 1980s.

And, of course, the Aldingers also produce sparkling wine. Their Brut Nature is certainly among the best in Germany. All of these wines are produced to the highest standards, as evidenced by a string of victories at the Vinum Awards, Falstaff Trophies, and other competitions. This level of diversity at the highest standard is certainly unique in Germany. In addition, the Aldinger Winery is rated as a “world-class winery” by all major wine guides—namely Falstaff, Vinum, Eichelmann, Gault Millau, and Feinschmecker—with the highest score of 5 stars or grapes. The Aldingers can do almost anything—except speak Standard German. For a long time, the Aldinger Winery was considered a traditional operation. But that doesn’t mean they don’t dare to try unconventional approaches. With their “Ovum,” a Sauvignon Blanc aged in a concrete egg, they proved many years ago that they aren’t afraid of alternative aging methods, and they’ve also made a statement with their Trollinger “Sine”: The wine is produced without filtration or sulfur, and the label is entirely free of printing ink. In addition, the 2024 vintage is the first certified organic vintage at the Aldinger Winery.
