Lackner-Tinnacher

Lackner-Tinnacher

The Lackner-Tinnacher winery is surrounded by vineyards and orchards and has been family-owned since its founding in 1770. Biologist Katharina Tinnacher's in-depth knowledge of the interaction between vines, soil, and microclimate, combined with her father Fritz Tinnacher's winegrowing experience, complement each other perfectly and result in finely structured wines with deep fruit and great authenticity. The very different soil types of the Steinbach (sandy), Eckberg (calcareous-loamy), Welles (stony) and Sausaler Flamberg (shell limestone) vineyards, which was only added in 2008, are skillfully conjured into the glass with the main varieties Sauvignon Blanc and Morillon, representing one of the best collections in Styria. Even with the Welschriesling, the substance and structure of the wines are striking, yet they remain light and easy to drink – a characteristic that runs through the entire range.

The credo of the Lackner-Tinnacher winery is timelessness. Winemaking is understood as an annual metamorphosis: vines grow from soil, stones, and minerals. Under the sun, wind, and rain, vines and grapes develop. Careful craftsmanship and skill ultimately result in the wines. The entire vineyard is now cultivated according to organic guidelines. The wines are fermented almost exclusively spontaneously and remain on the fine lees for as long as possible to give them more structure and character.
