The Johanneshof Reinisch family winery is located 30 km south of Vienna in the Thermenregion wine-growing region, formerly known as the Südbahn. The Reinisch family is now in its fourth generation of cultivating valuable vineyards around the traditional wine-growing villages of Gumpoldskirchen and Tattendorf. Johann Reinisch made the winery large and successful until his untimely death, and his sons Hannes, Christian, and Michael have been successfully running the business ever since. The maxim is—more than ever—the winemaker's personal dedication to the wine. The vineyards are planted with a variety of beneficial insects and cultivated according to organic guidelines.

The current winery was built in 1995 on the outskirts of Tattendorf, a symbiosis of tradition and modernity, or as German wine journalist Manfred Lüer once said: “a mixture of Californian winery architecture and a Spanish hacienda.” On the one hand, there is an innovative, future-oriented cellar with state-of-the-art sorting facilities, large cold storage rooms, and pneumatic presses. On the other hand, there is a remarkable vaulted barrel cellar, which was reconstructed from old bricks. Surrounding Tattendorf are the Lores (Chardonnay), Frauenfeld, and Holzspur (Pinot Noir and St. Laurent) vineyards on alluvial gravel and coarse-grained floodplain soil, which is particularly well suited for the cultivation of Burgundy varieties. The Holzspur vineyard owes its name to the wooden wagon wheels of yesteryear, which left clear marks in the clay-rich soil when wet. The vines around Gumpoldskirchen benefit from more nutrient-rich soils and an altitude of up to 400 meters. The Spiegel and Satzing vineyards are home to the indigenous white grape varieties Zierfandler and Rotgipfler, while the Grillenhügel and Kastenbaum vineyards produce excellent Pinot Noirs.Im Weingarten 1

Red wines are the main focus at the Reinisch Winery. The two top wines from the Holzspur vineyard were each awarded 5 stars and a top recommendation in the Vinaria Wine Guide for the 2015 vintage. In the white wine segment, Johanneshof Reinisch has made a name for itself not only with Rotgipfler and Zierfandler, but also with its powerful Chardonnay Lores.
