This historic winery is now in its third generation of ownership, run by Hansjörg Rebholz and his wife Birgit. For many years, it has been one of the flagship estates of the Palatinate wine scene, including in terms of sustainability: as one of the few estates in the region, the winery practices biodynamic viticulture to achieve even higher quality and enhance the individual style of its wines. The vineyards feature widely varying soil structures: Rotliegendes (red slate), red sandstone, shell limestone, and loess are the defining soil formations of the vineyards, located in close proximity to one another, and are reflected in the wines in their purest form. At the Rebholz Winery, the focus is on the characteristics of the grape varieties and vineyard sites, resulting in uncompromisingly dry wines that shine with structure, fine acidity, and elegance.

As early as 1951, the visionary Ökonomierat Eduard Rebholz described his concept of natural wine as follows: “You will always find only natural wines in my cellar—wines that are the result of painstaking and loving care of the vines and equally meticulous cellar management. No added sugar, no artificial sweetening, or similar fundamental structural alterations that strip the wine of its original character and, in my view, prevent it from being considered a natural product. We believe that the quality of the future wine must be largely determined right there in the vineyard. What is neglected there—whether unintentionally or intentionally—can only be inadequately compensated for by even the most sophisticated cellar management.” Wines of the Rebholz style need time to fully develop all their strengths!
