Manincor

The Manincor Winery, with its 400 years of tradition, is situated in an idyllic location on Lake Kaltern. The family coat of arms, “Man-in-cor” (loosely translated as “hand on heart”), can still be seen today on the winery’s facade. When Michael Goëss-Enzenberg took over Manincor from his uncle in 1991, the estate was solely a grape grower supplying the cooperatives in Kaltern and Terlan. Soon after, he began producing his own wine, but at first the count focused on work in the vineyard, improving grape quality through yield limitation and introducing natural vineyard management; since 2006, the vineyards have been cultivated biodynamically. Despite its size, Manincor has remained a family-run business with charm and personality. This is guaranteed not least by the family of Michael and Sophie Goëss-Enzenberg, who live on the estate themselves and are an integral part of the culture, history, and products that stand behind the venerable name Manincor.

With great creativity, a new cellar was built—nearly invisible, three stories deep beneath the vineyards—and carefully integrated into the historic estate, which is highly worthy of preservation. Today, the winery embodies tradition, modernity, and a commitment to the highest standards of winemaking. With tremendous creative energy and the active support of cellar master Helmuth Zozin, the charismatic and visionary count has succeeded in catapulting the estate to the very top of South Tyrol in just a few years. Gentle grape processing—using gravity rather than pumps—spontaneous fermentation, and aging in wood are essential to the pursuit of the wines’ natural expressiveness.
