Immediately after taking over the winery in 1985, Elisabetta began selecting 15 ancient Teroldego clones, which are now planted in her vineyards. This was followed by a transition from shade-providing pergola training to Guyot trellis training and a rigorous reduction in yields. The move toward natural, biodynamic viticulture was almost a logical next step; the winery has been Demeter-certified since 2009. Finally, she began working with clay amphorae in the cellar.
The winery is located in the Campo Rotaliano region, at the confluence of the Noce and Adige rivers, where over thousands of years a unique soil has formed from Dolomite debris—a mixture of limestone, porphyry, granite, and gneiss. Equally unique is the microclimate: in summer, it gets very hot during the day as the high mountains reflect the sun, while at the same time the Ora wind almost always blows in from Lake Garda to the south. At night, cooler air descends from the mountains into the Noce Valley. All in all, these are ideal conditions for wines full of character, with depth, finesse, and spice. The winery’s flagship wine is the Teroldego Granato, which regularly earns “Three Glasses” in Gambero Rosso.
