Ebner-Ebenauer

Ebner-Ebenauer

The Ebner-Ebenauer winery in Poysdorf on the Czech border was only established in 2007 when Marion Ebner and Manfred Ebenauer got married, but it quickly became one of the best wineries in the Weinviertel region. The foundation of the business is, on the one hand, the good locations with vines that are over 50 years old in some cases and, on the other hand, the young winemaking couple's talent for unpretentious winemaking and modern marketing. Grüner Veltliner is, of course, the main variety at Ebner-Ebenauer, but Pinot Blanc and red wines are also produced in various weight classes. The Blanc de Blancs, fermented in traditional bottles, was named Sparkling Wine of the Year in Austria by Gault Millau in 2008 and again in 2010.

Nach dem Motto “Nature writes the script for our wines, we just direct it.” Technology is largely dispensed with, harvesting is done exclusively by hand, and selection takes place directly during the harvest in small crates. After a short maceration period, fermentation now usually takes place with natural yeast strains and without temperature control. The wines are aged in wood or steel with appropriate fine yeast storage, and in the case of the Black Edition, also with extensive bâtonnage.
