GermanDer auf 500m Seehöhe liegende Hochsteinriegl ist eine der besten Sauvignon Blanc Lagen im Sausal, sehr steil mit reiner Südausrichtung und geprägt vom roten, kargen Schieferboden. Helles Grüngelb, in der Nase rieslingähnliche Steinobstanklänge, rauchig, gelbe Paprika, ein Hauch Johannisbeerkraut und Zitronenmelisse. Am Gaumen eine kühle und schlanke Textur, rassige Säure, zupackend, weiße Ribiseln mit einer Spur Limone, straffe dunkle Mineralik, etwas Salzigkeit im Nachhall. [GB Jg. 2015]
James Suckling vergibt 98 Punkte und schreibt: „The best of the Sauvignons often come from GSTK „Grand Cru“ sites, such as the Wohlmuth Sauvignon Blanc Ried Edelschuh 2021 …, which impressed the most out of all the Steiermark wines we tasted with their length and focus... There’s so much floral fragrance here, from honeysuckle to chamomile, along with peach and orange curd aromas. Creamy, caressing and full-bodied, so giving and supple, with bright and perfectly integrated acidity. Long and lingering floral tea character."
