The idyllic Sattlerhof in Sernau, located in the middle of a vineyard, has been family-owned since 1887. Senior Wilhelm Sattler is considered a pioneer of dry wine production in Styria, for which he was awarded the Golden Medal of Honor of the province. Willi Sattler runs the winery with his wife Maria. He is following in his father's footsteps with conviction—the winery has been one of Styria's leading producers for years. Their two sons, Andreas and Alexander, are also actively involved in the business and are taking on increasing responsibility in the vineyard and cellar. The vineyards are located in well-known sites such as Kranachberg, Sernauberg, and the monopole Pfarrweingarten on steep slopes with gradients of up to 70 percent. Directly adjacent to the winery is the restaurant with country hotel, which has been awarded two toques by Gault Millau and is run by his brother Hannes Sattler.

Willi Sattler does not see himself as an aesthetic vineyard artist. When he talks about wine, he first talks about hard work, steep slopes, bad weather, and the struggle with nature. The proud hunter and winemaker emphasizes the backbreaking work involved: “Intuition and talent,” he says, “only develop through diligence.” But tinkerer Willi Sattler has also lost a mechanical engineer: in order to get one step closer to perfection, he develops innovative devices himself to improve the work in the vineyard and cellar.
