The Turmhof Castle Winery in Entiklar, with its idyllic location, is now in its fifth generation of management by the Tiefenbrunner family. The slightly loamy soils of the vineyards in Entiklar, Kurtatsch, and Margreid—at elevations of up to 1,000 meters and with a high limestone content—provide the ideal foundation for elegant, mineral-driven wines; the temperate climate and the orientation of the vineyards lend them power and that characteristic South Tyrolean smoothness. In addition, Christof Tiefenbrunner’s wines always feature a juicy acidity that gives them vibrancy, freshness, and a lively mouthfeel.

The winery’s premier vineyards are those on the Fennberg; this area, spanning just under three hectares at an elevation of 1,000 meters above sea level, is considered the highest-altitude Müller-Thurgau vineyard in Europe and is home to the famous Feldmarschall vom Fenner. Particularly noteworthy is the winery’s Sauvignon Blanc series, which we consider the best in the entire region. The wines are not expressive, but rather delicate and understated examples of their varietals, with plenty of minerality and great complexity.
