Description
Der Rothenberg ist der größte und gleichzeitig leiseste Riesling im Sortiment von Kühling-Gillot und zeigt in einem vordernden Jahr wie 2021 seine ganze Klasse. Von Beginn an strahlt die Nase des Rothenberg eine unendliche Tiefe aus, kühl und warm zugleich, mit Frucht und Kräuter, Reduktion und doch auch mit oxidativen Einflüssen, die Balance ist schon jetzt grandios und dabei strahlt der Weine eine wunderbare Ruhe aus. Salzkaramell, Sesam, kandierte Ananas, Zitronengras und tänzelnde florale Noten, man kann hier ewig riechen und wird immer Neues entdecken. Am Gaumen mit puristischem Druck, das ist Meersalz und Zitrone in Reinform, vibrierender Kalk setzt ein und packt die Zunge, dann kommt saftige Frucht, wieder Ananas und dazu Amalfizitrone, das Salz packt noch mal zu und lässt die Zunge nicht mehr los. Das ist ganz großer Stoff, der für mich deutlich über allen anderen Weinen des Jahrgangs schwebt! [CB 03/2023]
Die Beschreibung von Paula Sidore bei Jancis Robinson spricht ebenfalls für sich: In a crowded, candlelit room, there is always one. Senses lock and a shared synthesis of space, geology and time takes place. Smoky, grapefruit and orange blossom, deep-throated spice. Letting go is no longer an option. Serious mineral structure and silken fruit filling, lemon etching and a fine, delicate grip. Complex and commanding. Through it all a stony precision and sultry, unyielding focus. And this is only the beginning.
