For generations the Hillinger estate was cultivated in the area of Jois, but only when Leo Hillinger took over the winery in 1990 did it start to evolve as one the best wineries in the region. Always looking for new challenges, in 1997, Leo Hillinger bought twelve hectares of vineyards in the best locations in Rust to create their hit blend HILL1.
In May 2004 the newly built and ultra-modern winery was opened which was designed to mirror the spirit of the winemaker. Hillinger skillfully interweaves the strengths of Austrian varietals with smooth international style to create unique wines. With the talent for self-expression, the winery´s commercial success was inevitable. Leo Hillinger personifies his wines like no other, a representation of a new generation of modern winery. Young, dynamic and confident, the quality of products embody the environment in which they are produced.
