Having been on the map for sweet wines for quite a while, Germany is now starting to score big with dry wines. Leading the charge of course is the indigenous grape Riesling, widely regarded as one of the best white varieties overall. Closely followed by Pinot Noir (or Spätburgunder), similiar in style to its origin Burgundy.

Riesling Kirchenstück GG 2013

Battenfeld-Spanier

Der Boden im Kirchenstück ist sehr kalkhaltig, jedoch ist der Kalkfels deutlich stärker verwittert und hat daher auch eine höheren Sandanteil. Der etwas mächtigere Boden, lässt den Riesling Kirchspiel reifer und etwas molliger erscheinen, intensive Nase mit Papaya und Mango, dazu noch etwas Birne und Grapefruit. Am Gaumen beginnt er weich mit sehr harmonischer Struktur, wirkt zuerst etwas brav, kommt dann mit etwas Luft aber mit richtig Druck, im Hintergrund leichte Salzigkeit, mit geschmeidigem Abgang.
