The white grape variety comes from France. According to DNA analysis, it is probably a natural cross between Pinot and Heunisch. The Auxerrois should not be confused with Chardonnay, despite apparent similarities. In France there are more than 2,300 hectares of it, the early-ripening grape is susceptible to downy mildew and botrytis. It provides white wines with low-tasty, low-acidity and a slight honey flavor.
