Rotedel ist ein Synonym für Traminer und wird von Christoph Wachter benutzt, da der Wein aus dem normalen Traminer Geschmacksbild deutlich ausbricht. Der Rotedel von Wachter-Wiesler wird auf der Maischevergoren und in gebrauchten Holzfässern ausgebaut, die Vinifizierung ist damit fast gleich wie bei seinen Rotweinen. In der Nase sehr würzig, mit viel Rauchigkeit und dunkler Frucht, flambierte Ananas, etwas Kreuzkümmel und Sellerieknolle, dicht und wild, getrocknete Aprikose und etwas Heu, sehr komplex und vielschichtig, dabei aber eher schwer und etwas düster. Am Gaumen mit schöner Frische, eine zarte Säure sorgt für Lebendigkeit, fast exotische Frucht, etwas Birne, Speck und wieder Würze, dann packt das mürbe Tannin zu, intensiv und rauchig, dazu ein mächtiger Körper, stoffig und dicht, wird aber nie fett oder unbalanciert. Ein Powerwein, mit extremer Dichte und eine dunklen Tiefgründigkeit. [CB Jg. 2018]
