Description
Der Ortswein von Karin Wechsler stammt von der Lage Kirchspiel, mit Kalkmergel im Untergrund. Helles Goldgelb, in der Nase weiße Melone, Ananas und Zitrone. Am Gaumen eine eher schlanke Struktur, drahtige Kalkmineralik, aber auch ein feiner Schmlez, sehr harmonisch und trinkanimierend. Nicht umsonst einer der Lieblinge von der FAS und Stuart Pigott. Rheinhessen ist das dynamischte Weinbaugebiet in Deutschland, neben den großen Namen findet man dort inzwischen eine ganze Menge aufstrebender Winzer mit grandiosen Weinen. Katharina Wechsler ist eine davon und zeigt mit diesem Ortsriesling, was in den kalkigen Böden rund um Westhofen steckt: geradlinige, mineralische und fruchtige Rieslinge. Stephan Reinhardt schreibt bei Robert Parker: There it is again, the shocking clarity on the almost chalky and truly characterful nose of Katharina's 2014 Westhofen Riesling trocken. Sourced from top vineyards such as Kirchspiel and Morstein, this is a very elegant and perfectly balanced dry Riesling that is not only already accessible, but an extremely great pleasure to drink. The wine is juicy, aromatic and fairly complex in the finish, since the limestone character is the most dominating feature here. This a picture-book Westhofen Riesling for a handful of dollars.
